🧭February Dispatch: The Forge Before the Journey

January held no expeditions, yet the month was anything but quiet. The workshop stayed blazing from dawn to dusk as we pushed through the final wave of holiday orders, the clang of tools and hum of lasers carrying the sound of a crew still deep in the thick of the journey. Only a small handful of 2025 orders remain, each now at the very front of the line. This brief pause from travel has given us the chance to tighten our gear, restock our supplies, and prepare the maps for the road ahead. Even in the stillness of winter, the adventure continues.

Kara and I also had the rare chance to revisit one of the earliest chapters of our expedition. We were invited to take part in a mini-documentary about our time working on Revenge of the Mummy during the 2004 - 2005 era, created by Ryan of the YouTube channel For the Love of Theme Parks. Being chosen as subjects for his Mummy feature was an honor, and sharing our stories from those early days felt like opening an old field journal sealed since the start of our journey. When you have a moment to watch a thirty-minute documentary, click here. It offers a glimpse behind the scenes, and a look at the early sparks that would eventually grow into the expedition known today as IONOX Media.

⚙️ Workshop Log: Between Healing and the Cold

Kara’s recovery continues like a ranger reclaiming her strength after a long trek, her artistic skills returning in quick, bright bursts of precision. The aches from surgery still shadow her steps, yet they no longer halt her progress, and each week she reclaims a little more of the craft that defines her. The greater adversary this month has been winter itself, slipping into our garage workshop like an unexpected rival on the trail. Lasers run true when the air sits in the sixties and seventies, but once the temperature sinks into the low fifties, the machines must be shut down and the heaters deployed to keep the equipment from taking damage. These cold fronts rarely linger in Florida, but when they arrive, production halts for several days and the expedition waits out the weather. Even so, each warm day brings the workshop roaring back to life, and the climb continues upward.

🧭 Dispatch on Provisions & Pricing

We have an important update to share about our pricing. For years we held the line as material costs rose around us, doing everything possible to keep our work accessible without compromising its craftsmanship. That time has finally caught up with us, and in order for the expedition to continue forward, we’ve had to adjust our prices across the board. This wasn’t a decision made lightly, but one made so we can keep creating the maps, landmarks, and artifacts that define our journey. We’re grateful for everyone who has supported us through every season, and we hope these changes are met with the same understanding you’ve always given us. Our wooden art remains available through Etsy and Shopify, our textile designs live under Retro-Realm on Redbubble, and The 3rd Unit continues its run in both print and digital form on Amazon.

🔭 Mission Log: Maps in the Making

Design time has finally gathered steam again, and the expedition has returned to its cartographic table with renewed focus. Work continues across several major fronts, the full park map for Epic Universe, the action-heavy layout of Men in Black: Alien Attack, and the torch-lit depths of Ironforge from World of Warcraft, all still on course to debut at our March shows. Between these larger undertakings, we managed to slip in a few lighter missions, crafting new signs inspired by the worlds of Fallout and additional deep-cut attractions that longtime explorers may recognize. These pieces will make their first appearance at the end of February, adding fresh artifacts to the expedition’s pack. Keep an eye on our social channels as the reveals begin; the trail ahead is about to get lively.

🌅 Forward Momentum: Farewells and New Frontiers

January ended on a powerful note as we made the journey to Disney's Animal Kingdom to witness the final dispatch of Dinosaur. The sendoff felt like a gathering of explorers, creators, and old companions from across the theme-park community, all converging to honor a ride that shaped so many of our own adventures. We premiered our newest piece, The Dino Institute sign, and were genuinely humbled when the crew of the ride asked us to create one for Dr. Seeker himself, actor Wallace Langham. A task we filled with great elation the very next day.  The response throughout the closing day was overwhelming, and every kind word reminded us why we continue this journey.

To those who have stood beside us through every mile, thank you. And to those just discovering our work and joining the expedition, welcome aboard. The trail ahead is wide, the horizon bright, and adventure is waiting.  We intend to find it, together.

ABOUT IONOX

Maps and Signs From The Worlds Of Your Imagination.

In the heart of Orlando, IONOX Media began as the passion project of a single dreamer, crafting artifacts inspired by beloved fandoms and pop culture legends. What started as a simple hobby in a humble home workshop found its footing during the pandemic shutdown of 2020, blossoming into a thriving creative force.

Each piece we design and craft is a tribute to the stories and characters that ignite our imaginations, blending materials like layered wood, resin, leather, and canvas to bring these creations to life. Our journey has taken us across the nation, from comic conventions to art festivals and gallery showings, and our work has been featured in publications and proudly displayed in public spaces.

Now partnered with amazing people, IONOX Media continues to grow, inviting adventurers, explorers, and thrill-seekers to join us in celebrating the worlds of their imaginations. Thank you for being part of this creative odyssey—your support fuels our passion and helps us craft unique pieces that resonate with fans and collectors everywhere.
